The Cowgirls have been assigned to Region 5 in Class 2A for softball postseason play, and will face Aplington-Parkersburg on July 6 on the Falcons’ field. All regional games start at 7 p.m. On that same side of the bracket, Eagle Grove goes to Eldora to face South Hardin. The winner of the Cowgirls versus Falcons game will face Columbus Catholic on July 7 in Waterloo, with that winner then playing the winner of the Eagles versus Falcons game in the semifinals on July 9 in Waterloo.
Teams on the other side of the bracket include Lake Mills, West Fork, Manson NW Webster, Belmond-Klemme and Central Springs. Their semifinal is the same night in Manly. The two winners meet on July 12 in the regional final at a site to be determined. The winner of that game qualifies for the State Softball Tournament July 19-23 at the Harlan & Hazel Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.
