Matt Loux has lived in Wright County all his life, and now is able to give something of himself back to a fair he has enjoyed for many years.
“I currently live on a farm south of Rowan with my family,” said Loux. “I am a row crop and cattle farmer, and I was in 4-H as a youth. My children are showing a bucket/bottle calf in this year’s fair.”
He has ‘many wonderful memories’ of the fair as a child. “My family has continued to be involved with it over the years, and I am excited now to be able to play a leadership role with the Wright County Fair,” he said. He went on to say the biggest thing for this year is the entire board’s excitement at being back to a full fair again! “We have many returning fair traditions, as well as some new attractions we are offering,” said Loux.
In his brief time on the board, his eyes have been opened to the time each board member spends at this. “I am in awe of the dedication and amount of hours every member puts in to ensure a successful fair,” said Loux. His specific duties are as assistant superintendent of poultry. “My wife and I are welcoming a baby boy into our family, so I will not be present for the fair,” he said. “I have assisted with the planning process and look forward to being more involved during fair week 2022!”
He admits his favorite part of the fair is seeing all the hard work of the 4-H and FFA members pay off at the livestock shows. In his spare time, he likes to spend quality time with the family, playing golf, snowmobiling and exploring the great outdoors.”
“Come out and enjoy all the free entertainment, and great food, and witness the hard work of our youth!” said Loux in closing.
