This year’s dog walk was another great turnout as approximately seventy-five people and forty dogs attended the Humane Society of Wright County’s annual “Lap the Lake” event held at Lake Cornelia a couple Saturdays back. It was a beautiful autumn morning for the humans and dogs as they started their trek around the lake. Several participants volunteered to walk the adoptable dogs brought over from the humane society. After the walk, participants were treated to cookies and bottled water while the dogs were treated to bowls of water and a variety of doggie snacks.
Following the walk around the lake, ten dog awards (along with prizes for the dogs) were presented as follows: SMALLEST DOG- Missy (a little black mixed breed owned by the Emily Lamfers-Hill family); LARGEST DOG- Brutus (a Great Dane owned by Ellie Riedel); YOUNGEST DOG- four month old Rizzo (a Golden Doodle owned by Kris Dougherty); OLDEST DOG- fourteen year old Lucky (a rat terrier owned by Tc Murphy); FRIENDLIEST DOG- Oliver (a Golden Retriever owned by Myah Brierly); STRONGEST DOG- Gryffindor (a lab owned by Linda Lloyd); LONGEST HAIRED DOG- Beau (a Siberian Husky owned by Samantha Schermer); MOST STYLISH DOG- Bane (a Corgie owned by Rachel Sido) who was dressed in a “Jack-O-Lantern” outfit similar to the outfits worn by his owner and his owner’s 4 month old baby; DOG MOST RESEMBLING ITS OWNER- Zoey (a lab whose blonde fur was a close color match to her owner Liberty Bonin’s hair color).; and BEST TRICK PERFORMED BY A DOG- Bently (a black & white long haired dog owned by Alix Rethman) who could shake with either paw.
Every dog attending the event walked away with a doggie prize and treat packet. This is the ninth year for this event and is one of the primary fundraisers for the Humane Society of Wright County. Funds from this event help buy pet food and pay medical care for their adoptable animals.
