‘Tis the season to be jolly and enjoy festive music! To that end, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School music department held their annual holiday concert last week. Several different musical groups performed a fun selection of joyful tunes.
The concert band under the direction of Kent Wesselink performed a combination of holiday classics as well as some modern songs. Their selections included “A Yuletide Festival,” “March of the Winter Elves,” “Angels in the Bleak Midwinter,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Picking up the tempo even more was the jazz band with their songs. They added the tunes “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “We Three Kings.
The vocal music department was next up. The choirs were directed by first year CGD teacher Joseph Granzow. The concert choir sang “Fanfare for a Festival,” “Jingle Bell Fantasy,” and “Silent Night, Silent World.” They finished up with the well-known “Carol of the Bells” and “Do You Hear What I Hear.”
Next up were two smaller choirs. The Bass/Tenor Choir sang “Bound for Jubilee” and “Little Saint Nick.” Last but not least, the Treble Choir sang “Feel Good” and wrapped up the concert with the rousing “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Holiday cheer was definitely in the air by the end of the evening .
Check back in the next few weeks for more on CGD’s middle school and elementary concerts.
