The 2021-2022 JV girls basketball team finished up another 4 game stretch with a season record of 6-5.
The JV team girls Basketball team played at home January 7 th against Hampton/Dumont winning 49-19. This was a very good win for the girls coming back from Christmas break. Everyone received some good playing time in this game and we received scoring contributions from several girls.Payton DeCoster had a very good overall floor game with her defense, rebounding and scoring which was good to see. Scoring: Payton DeCoster 14 points, Emma State 10, Kennedy Jackson 8, Ellie Ennis 6, Indy Johnson 5, Aysa Lyons 5, and Ady Askelson 1 point.
Next the JV girls played at West Fork January 10 th losing 21-39. We simply weren’t ready to play at the start of this game and got behind early. The score was 4-30 at half time however we played much better and harder in the 2nd half of this game. Their full court pressure bothered us in the 1 st half but the girls did a much better job of handling that pressure and putting more points on the board. Scoring: Ellie Ennis 7 points, Indy Johnson 6, Kennedy Jackson 4, Ady Askelsen 2 points and Sydney Friesleben 2 points.
The girls then played at Pocahontas January 11 th losing 11-44. They played strong defense and we simply didn’t adjust to their full court pressure. Scoring: Indy Johnson 6 points, Emma State 2, Kennedy Trca 2, and Kennedy Jackson 1 point.
The JV girls then finished up a busy week losing to Humboldt 29-58. I thought we played hard in this game and did a lot of really positive things. The score really wasn’t an indication of how both teams competed in this game. Humboldt simply caught fire from the 3-point line in the 2 nd half hitting a total of ten 3-point baskets for the game. Hitting that many 3-point baskets is difficult to overcome. We
played relatively good defense as many of those shots were well beyond the 3-point line. Kennedy Jackson and Indy Johnson both had nice overall floor game handling the ball, passing and looking for their shots. Kennedy Trca did a nice job of rebounding and running the floor to open spots. Scoring: Kennedy Jackson 9 points, Kennedy Trac 7, Aysa Lyons 4, Sydney Friesleben 3, Payton DeCoster 2, Emma State 2, Indy Johnson 2 points.
