Garrett Seaba clinches second at state!

Garrett Seaba clinched second place at the state tournament last week. With his performance, Seaba spoke on some of his thoughts and reflections on making it to state, saying, “I’m grateful that I’ve been able to qualify for state all four years of high school. Each year I got better and better, and I went this year with the state championship as my ultimate goal.”

Seaba successfully reached the first place match last week, and he explained his preparations before the match. “Getting prepared for the finals was extremely tough for me,” Seaba stated, “I had wrestled all my life, and I knew beforehand that it would be the last match of my career. There were a lot of emotions to overcome, as well as nerves. Although I didn’t come on top in the end, it was a great season for me all around.”

This was Seaba’s final appearance at state as a CGD Cowboy, which was an emotionally proud moment for the senior, as he explained, “I am extremely proud that I got to wrestle for CGD and my coach Dan Gabrielson. I grew up watching the wrestling team go out and dominate for many years, and I knew that I wanted to be a part of it.” Seaba finished, saying, “I am also grateful that I got to be Coach Gabrielson’s last match.”

This was the last season for seniors Garrett Seaba and Daniel Chavez, along with Coach Dan Gabrielson, and what a monumental finale it was for the three.

Congratulations to the entire CGD Cowboys squad, as they invested themselves into a stellar season with success from every individual on the team.
