At the Monday meeting of the Wright County Board of Supervisors, Assessor Shari Plagge announced that she will be leaving her position to act as assessor for the City of Ames. She will be starting their next week. Plagge has been Wright County’s Assessor since 2010. Plagge noted that Tonee Nicholas who has been in the Assessor’s Office for three years was named Deputy Assessor and after she leaves, Nicholas will be ‘acting assessor’ for the county.
In board business, a public hearing was held to amend fiscal year 2021-2022’s budget. Auditor Betty Ellis explained the budget was being amended to account for revenues and expenditures from the American Rescue Plan funds (COVID-relief money) and the $1.4 million in debt taken on to pay for the purchase of land around the lakes. Ellis said with the amendment, revenues total around $3.68 million and expenditures $3.85 million. No public comments were received, and the amendment was approved.
A 28E Agreement with Upper Des Moines Opportunity was signed to provide services to the low-income, the elderly, and people with disabilities in Wright County. The supervisors annually give UDMO around $14,000 and see services totaling close to $300,000 within the county.
Engineer Lee Gallentine was at the meeting to set up a completion hearing for work done on drainage district #117 for lower main open ditch construction. The hearing will be April 25
