At the Monday Clarion-Goldfield-Dows School Board Meeting, High School Athletic Director Jeff Meyer presented an update to the good conduct policy. This policy outlines consequences for students with ‘good conduct’ violations. It governs not only students in athletics but many other activities as well such as FFA, student council and drama. Meyer and High School Principal Paul Hansch explained that the policy had not been updated in years and that the new policy is modeled after a system that Humboldt established. Under the new policy, students’ consequences are based on percentages. For instance, for a first offense, a student would miss 1/3 of the regular season or ¼ of the season plus perform 10 hours of community service. The policy was approved by the board.
In the consent agenda, the board approved the next year’s district fees. They are the same as in the past. However, lunch fees will be back in place next year after the past couple years of no charge for lunch due to federal programs.
In his superintendent’s report, Joe Nelson noted the district’s construction projects are staying on track. There will be brief dedications of the softball and baseball fields on May 24 and 30, respectively
