Two CGD seniors put in great performances at Friday’s 2A region golf meet at Holstein. Karina Torres and Emily Christensen are peaking at the right moment during strong seasons. The two golfers tied for third place, scoring 94s. Their finishes sent the girls on to the next round of regionals which took place Wednesday at their home course at Clarmond.
“Emily and Karina have worked extremely hard this year,” said coach Austin Heeren. “Emily has greatly improved her short game which has allowed her to take advantage of her length. Karina’s course management has been amazing since conference and smart decisions such as hitting a club she trusts rather than trying to hit something longer have been instrumental in her improvement. I know Karina and Emily are excited to get another chance to play and represent CGD!
Other Cowgirls scores from last Friday: Sawyer Morrical-103, Delia Swanson- 107, Julia Gardner-114, Lauren Brooks-120. Though the season is over for most of the Cowgirls, Heeren was happy with the season all of them put together. “The team played so well and I’m extremely proud of all the girls,” he said.
