At their meeting Monday morning, the supervisors canvassed the votes from the special election held on March 3. County Auditor Betty Ellis noted that turnout was very low throughout the county. All the measures on the ballot passed.
Ellis noted that for the North Iowa Area Community College bond issue results, she will send her information on to Mason City, where they will conduct a second canvas with all the counites who voted on the measure. For the local option sales tax measures, Ellis will send a letter to the state Department of Revenue, reporting those results.
A conference call was held with ISG Engineering regarding Agri-Business Park progress. The Reilly Construction rep was not on the call as they were currently televising the sewer system at the site. That recording will eventually be provided to ISG and the county. ISG also noted that Reilly is still working on the storm sewer at the site.
In other business, Family Heritage Insurance presented their product to the board. They sell insurance for coverage in the case of prolonged injury or illness, like cancer. The board decided to review their other insurance options and said they would get back to them before allowing them to present their policies to county departments. The board also received the monthly Sheriff’s report.
