Eagle boys make a strong showing at Dodger Relays

Eagle Grove finished 6th of ten schools in the Boys Dodger Relays last Monday, at Dodger Stadium in Fort Dodge. Also Competing (in order of finish) were Waukee Northwest, taking First, Mason City in Second, Fort Dodge in third, Humboldt, St. Edmond, Boone (in seventh), Marshalltown, Des Moines East, and Manson-NW Webster.

Freshmen runners represented the Eagles well in the 100 meter dash with Leelan Spencer taking 10th place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.82, Syrus Willard taking 29th with a time of 14.02, Jayden Kreitlow taking 34th with a time of 14.39, and Hayden Schafer taking 43rd with a time of 15.24. In the 200 meter dash Frosh Hayden Schafer took 16th with a time of 30.36. And fellow frosh Zachary Marvets took 12th in the 800 meter run in 3:34.47.

In shot put, junior Dominick Melendrez took 15th place with a hurl of 30-08. Freshman James Harle threw 27-06 for 17th place. And sophomore Eduardo Sosa tossed 20-00 to nab 23rd.

In discus it was the froshes representing again. Christian Martinez flung 74-07 to take 13th. Felix Reyes let fly with a 70-10 throw to grab 17th. And James Harle chucked it 63-02 to snag 18th.

Of course, the relays are the main event at the Dodger Relays and the teamwork of the Eagles paid off! As a team the Eagles took 4th in the 4×100 meter, and again in the 4×200 meter, and also took 5th in the 800 medley.
