Cowgirl Captain is All-Conference Again

Sawyer Morrical personifies consistency and leadership on the hardwood. She earned her first NCC All-Conference selection in the tenth grade and was also named to the 2nd Team in her junior and senior seasons.

“I’m very honored that I got to make it three times,” said the humble guard.

When it comes to leading a team and playing point guard, Morrical noted that it all comes down to knowing your running mates.

“One of the biggest things is just getting along with your teammates,” she stated. “I made it a priority to get close with them and understand how they tick to make our team successful.”

That cerebral approach to the game has been fruitful for the Cowgirl, who was the third-best passer in the conference this year with 3.7 assists per contest.

Although she admits her last high school basketball was “a little hard”, Morrical says she is proud of her team and has thoroughly enjoyed representing CGD.

“My mom graduated here and my grandparents are from here. It’s really three generations of my family living here. That makes it special.”

When Sawyer isn’t draining threes or dropping dimes, she enjoys showing and raising livestock with her family. She plans to attend Iowa State next year to major in Animal Science.
