The town of Clarion bid a melancholy farewell to Granny's Iowa Market on May 11th. For a remarkable 4 1⁄2 years, the Market, founded in 2019, left a lasting mark on locals with its unique charm and specialty offerings.
Owners Dawn and Tim Hamilton meticulously curated an assortment of Iowa-made products sourced from local small businesses, as well as a selection from out-of-state vendors, making it a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
Earlier in the month, news surfaced that the store would be closing its doors permanently, leaving a void in the community. All displays, fixtures, appliances, and the building itself were made available for purchase. This marked the end of an era.
Tim expressed the couple’s bittersweet feelings in a sincere online post: “We have been blessed to
serve so many great people in Clarion and the surrounding area. We loved meeting people from
far away who came to our little Market to take home their own little slice of Iowa goodness.”
My family will deeply miss Granny’s Iowa Market, as we have had a connection with this fantastic couple, having showcased and sold my handmade jewelry at their establishment for three years. My son always found great enjoyment when we visited the Market; he would excitedly explore each room and eagerly inspect the array of new products stocked by Dawn.
These memories and experiences will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we are profoundly grateful to the Hamiltons for creating such a wonderful space. Heartfelt wishes are extended to the Hamilton family for their continued success and well-being in all their future endeavors.
