Supervisors declare April Autism Awareness Month in Wright County

The Wright County Board of Supervisors still gathered in person Monday morning, but they all looked a little different as everyone was now wearing a homemade facemask. Chairman Dean Kluss noted that the CDC now recommends that people wear masks when they are around others. He also emphasized that they are wearing the homemade variety so as not to take N-95 or surgical masks that should be reserved for healthcare workers.

In one of the meeting’s few agenda items, the board approved a proclamation declaring April Autism Awareness Month in Wright County. The proclamation read in part: “During the month of April, we strive to promote autism awareness, inclusion and self-determination for all, and assure that each person with ASD is provided an opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life. The Wright County Board of Supervisors do hereby proclaim the month of April to be designated as autism awareness month and urge our community to awareness and acceptance of this disorder in Wright County.” In observance of the month, the courthouse clock tower will shine with a blue light, the official color of autism awareness.

In other action, the board held the weekly conference call with ISG and Reilly Construction about the Agri-business park, though technical problems prevented the Reilly rep from speaking. It was relayed though that staking for electric at the site is occurring and they are working on finishing the storm sewer. The board also received and approved the Sheriff’s monthly revenue report.
