“Having been in many leadership positions in the past, running for public office seems the right thing to do. My experience and education would be put to good use in these challenging times. Recent events affecting everyone will need special attention to the needs of the people in Wright County. All communities, along with rural folks, will need their concerns addressed in a timely fashion. So many people have been impacted it require changes in politics. This requires changes in the status quo,” Mike Boyd said.
Boyd has spent nearly his entire life in Wright County, graduating from Eagle Grove High School then going back for further education later at both Iowa Central (A.A.) then Buena Vista University with a B.A. in Business Management and Entrepreneurship while working for Electrolux in Webster City. After learning of the move the company was making to Mexico, Boyd set out to work for Eaton Corporation in Spencer Iowa as a Machinist Manager. Other opportunities in management in different organizations while getting a Masters in Management from Liberty University, eventually led him to managing the City of Eagle Grove as City Administrator for 6 years. Boyd has also been an adjunct Professor for BVU for many years, teaching a wide range of business courses.
Boyd married and raised his family in Eagle Grove. He and his wife Jaci have 4 adult children and 2 grandkids.
The past 2 years, Boyd has worked in both the Eagle Grove school system and Clarion as a sub teacher and para educator. Boyd was also on the Eagle Grove School Board for several years. He currently is active as a treasurer for his church and the Foundation for the Future in Eagle Grove. He also serves on the Veterans Tower board in Eagle Grove.
