The Cowboys wrestled at home last Thursday night in a conference triangular vs. Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Webster City.
In the first dual, the Bulldogs dominated the Lynx 50-20. Next, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows squared off against Hampton-Dumont-CAL in a rollercoaster of a dual. The Cowboys would emerge victorious, winning 35-34 on Senior Night in front of their home fans.
Colin Sesker took a 9-1 major decision at 150 lbs. for CGD’s first win of the night. Charlie Campbell (190) led 7-0 after the first period of his opening match and eventually pinned his opponent in the next period.
JT Kelso (285) won by fall in just 1:07, and the relentless Paxton Redenius (113) won a major decision. Linden Phetxoumphone gave the Cowboys the lead after his win by fall at 120 lbs.
Adrian Phetxoumphone came back from a near pin and won a major decision at 132. His thrilling victory gave CGD the points they needed to defeat the Bulldogs 35-34.
Against Webster City, Caleb Seaba won by fall in 57 seconds at 165. Campbell picked up another win, this time in a 16-3 major decision.
Kelso had a perfect night after winning by fall in 1:41, and Cole Wibholm (106) won by fall in just 26 seconds. The Cowboys led 22-21 and never looked back.
Linden Phetxoumphone, Ryan Hartwig (126), and Sesker all won by fall and led CGD to a 52-27 thrashing of the Lynx.
