The Cowgirls earned their fifth victory of the season after a thrilling conference volleyball match on Thursday night. On the road in Clear Lake, the girls squeaked out a 25-23 win in the first set. Clear Lake responded with two 25-14 landslides in the second and third sets. Facing a 2-1 deficit, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows regrouped and evened the balance with a 25-21 victory before putting away the Lions 16-14 in the fifth and final set.
Elliot Ennis, who was a 2nd Team All-Conference player in the North Central Conference a year ago, led the Cowgirls with 16 kills and 3 blocks.
Claire Kirstein and Blaire Askelsen each had 8 kills, and Ella Engstrom added 6 more kills.
Freshman Harper Nerlien had 32 assists in the victory.
