SIGOURNEY – She just about did it all this winter.
Sigourney senior Josephine Moore became the seventh girl in Sigourney history (in girls 5 vs 5 play) to score over 1,000 points in her career. She set a new career rebound record for the Savages. She was a first team All-Conference player, but the senior still had one more accomplishment to add to her list.
Now she can also call herself an All-State basketball player.
At the end of the girls basketball season the Iowa Girls Coaches Association released their All-State basketball teams. Moore was named to the third team list of the IGCA basketball list.
Moore was a team leader in several categories this season.
This season Moore was able to guide the Savages to a regional final appearance and an overall record of 19-6 this season.
Among class 1A competition Moore led the entire state in free throw attempts at 209. She also led all other 1A players in free throws made with 159 this winter.
Moore was fifth overall in offensive rebounds brought in (among class 1A players) with 124.
Overall Moore finished the season with 451 points scored which placed her ninth overall in points scored among class 1A players.
Moore had 278 total rebounds. That placed her in a tie for 12th-most rebounds of any 1A player this year (she tied with Wayne’s Izzie Moore). Moore had 154 defensive rebounds which was the 17th-most in the state among class 1A players.
This season Moore also had 48 steals, 23 assists and 11 blocks.
