EDDYVILLE – When the record was last set the song ‘Rock Me Amadeus’ was near the top of the charts and John Mellencamp’s, ‘R.O.C.K In the USA’ was a close second.
Back then Sigourney runner Susie Snook was able to set a school record in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 11:23.
No one at Sigourney had touched that record until last week, when Ellie Yates was able to run a time of 11:21.06 at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont meet held April 22. That broke the nearly 40-year old school record.
Yates was able to win the race, and the Sigourney girls finished fourth overall with 95 points. Davis County won the meet with a score of 178 points.
Other results for the Sigourney girls on April 22:
Addison Yates was second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 5:35.45. Cloee Wilson was fourth. Addison Yates also finished second in the 3,000 meter run.
Brynn Clarahan was second in the 400 hurdles.
Kia Montgomery was third in the long jump with a leap of 13-feet-2.5-inches. McKinley Chittick was fifth in the high jump after clearing 4-feet-6-inches.
Josephine Moore finished third in the shot put with a throw of 32-feet-9-inches. Devyn Smallwood placed seventh.
Moore was fifth in the discus with a throw of 88-feet-6-inches.
The Sigourney 4×200 team placed third. In the 4×400 the girls relay team finished third.
In the 4×800 the Sigourney girls placed fourth. The sprint medley relay team was fourth.
Camalita Cave was fourth in the 100 meter dash. Cloee Wilson finished eight and Abyl McCulley finished ninth in the 400 meter dash. Becca Gretter was ninth in the 800. Ella Bahlman was 10th.
In the 4×100 the Sigourney girls placed fifth. In the distance medley relay the Sigourney team was sixth.
At the BGM meet on Friday night the Sigourney girls placed sixth overall with 50 points. East Marshall won the meet with 123 points.

Ellie Yates finished third in the 1,500 meter run. Addison Yates was fourth in the same race.
Brynn Clarahan was third in the 400 hurdles.
McKinley Chittick was fourth in the high jump after clearing 4-feet-8-inches.
Josephine Moore was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 33-feet-half-an-inch. Moore finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 82-feet.
The Savages finished third in the 4×800 relay. They also finished third in the sprint medley relay.
Sigourney finished fourth in the 4×100 relay. They also finished fourth in the 4×200 relay. Another fourth place finish came to the Savages in the 4×400 relay.
McKinley Chittick was 10th in the 100 meter dash. Kia Montgomery was ninth in the 200 meter dash.
Becca Gretter and Bailey Gretter finished ninth and 10th in the 400 meter run. Cloee Wilson was seventh in the 800 meter run. Sigourney was eighth in the distance medley.
