PACKWOOD — The Pekin Community Scholarship Fund will host its annual dinner and auction Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Pekin High School Commons.
Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m. by the Ruritans. A live and silent auction will follow the meal. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in advance from any Pekin junior or senior or at the door the night of the event.
The auction will feature a wide selection of donated items from area businesses and individuals. Gift certificates and gift cards have been provided by Elliott Oil, Federation Bank, Critter Salon, Country Junction, Sinclair Tractor, Dollar General, and many others. Attendees can also bid on entertainment and experience packages, including two tickets to a 2025–26 Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Artist Series performance, season tickets to Indian Hills Community College men’s basketball, and a Riverside Casino package featuring a weekday hotel stay and buffet passes.
Unique items up for auction include a cultured freshwater pearl necklace, Ray-Ban sunglasses, silver collector coins, Pioneer apparel, and handcrafted signs. Several local businesses have contributed specialty baskets such as a “Pamper Yourself” set from JCM Mutual Insurance Association, a Godfrey’s Ale House basket, and a back-to-school bundle from Dollar General. Other highlights include meat bundles from Packwood Locker, cupcakes from Double O Bakery, and a full massage gift certificate.
Organizers say the wide variety of items ensures there is something for everyone, while proceeds go toward supporting scholarships for Pekin students. For more information and photos of auction items, follow the Pekin Community Scholarship Fund Facebook page.
