PACKWOOD – At the home tournament, he wanted to make sure his name was remembered.
For Pekin’s Brantyn Sieren, he was able to leave his mark as the 285-pound wrestler was able to lead his team and finish second in his bracket.
At Saturday’s Bill Rex Invitational Sieren was the highest placing finisher for the Panthers when he was able to finish second overall.
Sieren’s first match was a win by fall when he needed just 3:09 to best a Moravia wrestler. In the semifinals Sieren was overpowering against a North Mahaska opponent, winning 12-0.
After battling for two periods in the championship match Sieren was pinned in 3:30 in the championship match.
Zach Doud wrestled in the 150-pound bracket where he finished fifth overall. Doud started off his tournament with a win by pin in 1:17. After being defeated in his next two matches, Doud would need just 59 seconds to win over a Chariton wrestler in the fifth place match.
North Mahaska won the meet with 206.5 points. Pekin finished 12th with 41 total points. Â
