SIGOURNEY – Sigourney Elementary’s annual Celebrate Reading Night was held on Feb. 24. The school has been holding Celebrate Reading Nights for more than 15 years, to build relationships between the school, community and families and promote reading to kids. The night featured booths from various local businesses and organizations, games for the kids, and 25 cent books for kids to buy. “(The kids are) so excited,” said Reading Interventionist and Special Ed Instructional Coach Jolie Crawford. “One thing that gets them, they get books in their hand. We’re trying to promote reading, trying to build the gap and show parents, hey, let’s get books in their hands. Let’s get them reading. There’s a book for everyone. Enjoy reading.”
