KEOTA – On March 3, Keota voters approved updating the school district’s Revenue Purpose Statement, with 107 Yes votes compared to just 2 No votes. This vote will allow the district to continue using Iowa’s Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) one‑cent sales tax for various school projects. According to a district press release, this will keep local control over how Keota uses SAVE funds for school infrastructure, technology, safety, and facility improvements; extend the district’s ability to plan long‑term, aligning with the statewide SAVE law that runs through 2050; and support essential projects such as technology for students, building repairs, safety upgrades, and learning environments that meet today’s expectations. The RPS approval will not raise taxes, create new funding, or change the sales tax rate.
