On Tuesday evening, August 5, the Wright County Fairgrounds in Eagle Grove was full of people for the yearly “National Night Out” celebration.
The night is designed to bring the community and first responders together, positively.
When you stop and think about it, you see the police force, fire department, and other first responders in your most vulnerable state. National Night Out is a way to meet those everyday heroes without the trauma.
Families from all over Wright county came to the fair grounds, they were greeted by friendly faces from the Eagle Grove Police and Fire Departments, the Goldfield Fire Department, Clarion Police and Ambulance, Dows Fire Department, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, and County Dispatch.
As with most events, local generosity helped provide the fun. Danielle’s Party Rentals of Clarion brought inflatable attractions, including the slide that kept the kids lined up all evening. Fareway of Eagle Grove made sure no one went hungry by donating hot dogs for a freewill donation meal.
The night also provided life flight helicopter tours, a “Dunk-a-Cop” tank, along with a visit from the local ice cream truck. The CGD Dance Team kept busy painting faces for children, too.
Resource tables from Crisis Intervention Service, Parent Connections, Wright County Public Health, and the Wright County ISU Extension Office ensured the evening was not just about fun, but also about support and connection.
By the time the event wrapped up at 8:00 p.m., one thing stood out…National Night Out wasn’t only about meeting first responders; it was about feeling a little bit more connected than before.
