Peterson Places At Osage Tourney

After a long winter break, girls wrestlers from Eagle Grove kicked off their new year at a 19 team tournament held at Osage High School.

Catherine Orozco faced an experienced field at 100. In her first match, she lost a 7-0 decision against a grappler from Clear Lake. After a bye in the quarters, Orozco lost by technical fall to an Osage wrestler. She was not able to place, but still sits at 15-7.

Evelyn Jergensen (115) went 1-2 on the day, with a win by fall sandwiched in between two losses by fall.

Keylyee Collins wrestled at 130 on Eagle Grove’s JV team. In the first round, she pinned a South Winneshiek opponent, and came in 3rd place overall. 

At 140, Baylee Steig won by fall in her first two JV matches. She was defeated by an Osage wrestler in the third round, but finished the day in 2nd place.  

Keely Peterson earned 8th place at 170 for the purple and gold. In her wrestleback, she pinned a Crestwood wrestler in 42 seconds. Peterson now holds a record of 12-13.
