Keota Begins Sharing Superintendent With Pekin

KEOTA – On May 29, the Keota School District announced that they had entered into a sharing agreement with Pekin for the upcoming 2025/2026 school year, where Pekin Superintendent Dave Harper will be shared 60/40% between the two schools. According to the announcement Facebook post, “part of the decision to share the superintendent program was due to new operational functional sharing incentives from the state that increased incentives from 21 to 25 students, creating cost savings to the district by moving in this direction while providing additional resources from the principal and superintendent positions.”

Harper will take over half of the duties done by Keota Superintendent and High School Principal Lisa Brenneman, who abruptly resigned earlier this month after her relationship with the school board “gradually broke down over time,” according to Brenneman. In another Facebook post released on May 30, the district stated that they had received 15 applicants for the 7-12 principal position and would be interviewing the finalists on June 3, with a new principal planned to be named shortly after the interviews and take over on July 1.
