Sigourney and Pekin Receive I Ratings at Speech Districts

CENTERVILLE – Sigourney and Pekin competed at the Centerville Large Group Speech Districts on Jan. 24. Acts receiving a I rating will move onto the State contest in February. Both Sigourney performances and all Pekin performances except for the Spray/Atkinson/Heisdorffer Improv team received 1 Ratings. Performances on Saturday included:

Sigourney

  • Group Improv (Jacob Randall-Blaske, Chris McClennan)

  • Reader’s Theatre: “Literary Characters Support Group” (Jacob Randall-Blaske, Chris McClennan, Chloe Martin, Eden Hahn, Bianca Vega, Levi Weber, Tierney Greiner, Jasey Ingle)

Pekin

  • Musical Theatre: “Step Sister’s Lament” from Cinderella (Rannen Harbison, Tatum Harbison, Zoe Heisdorffer, Ava Heisdorffer, Zoey Atkinson)

  • Group Improv (Liam Guise, Dominic Cobler, Jaxon Mefford)

  • Short Film: “Conor and Crew” (Conor Cloyd, Rannen Harbison, Tatum Harbison, Hayden Miller, Will Daniels)

  • Group Improv (Brogan Spray, Zoey Atkinson, Zoe Heisdorffer)

 

“This group has worked very hard to prepare for District competition, and I am very excited to see how well their hard work pays off on Saturday in Centerville,” said Sigourney Speech Coach Alex Holt prior to the competition. “The Reader’s Theater goes through their twenty minute script over three times a day for the past three weeks and has constantly worked to become their characters for those twenty minutes of performance. I think they have a great opportunity to make some noise this weekend. I am also very excited about how Group Improv team. These two boys feed off of one another for their improv performances and have also been working tirelessly to make sure they are ready for any character or any scenario they may come across Saturday. I’m excited for what Centerville brings and can’t wait to see their hard work pay off.”
