The Buffalo Center Historical Society hosted a senior history major student from the University of Northern Iowa last week. Kyle Woolridge, originally from Forest City, is taking a public history class at UNI that requires 15 hours of work at a museum, and he chose the Heritage Museum in Buffalo Center.
Kyle came with a great deal of military experience. He went to Fort Jackson for Basic Training and Fort Lee, Virginia, to become an Ammunition Specialist 89B. He deployed to Kuwait and Iraq with A Company, 248th Aviation Support Battalion, 449th Combat Aviation Brigade. He is now a Staff Sergeant in Cedar Rapids as an ammunition inspector with the 34th Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 334th Brigade Support Battalion, Headquarters and Headquarters Company.
Kyle is the president of the local chapter of the Student Veterans of America, called the UNI Veterans Association.
With his military background, Kyle conducted oral interviews with several local veterans for the archives of the BC Historical Society. He also helped document some of the many donations into the Historical Society’s computer software. The BC Historical Society appreciated his help and enjoyed meeting him.
