On May 20, the Wright County United boys soccer team defeated Iowa Falls-Alden 2-1 and advanced to play Dallas Center-Grimes in their 3A Substate Semifinal.Â
Last Tuesday, the heavily favored Mustangs improved to 12-2-3 and advanced to face Mount Vernon in the next round after defeating Wright County 10-0 in Grimes.Â
United goalkeeper Jose Alfaro had 18 saves in the loss as Wright County ended their season with a record of 4-10-2. In 2025, Alfaro had 197 saves for the United and boasted a 79.1 save percentage.Â
Junior forward Byron Tux Coc was named to the NCC’s All-Conference Third Team after scoring a team-high six goals this spring. Defender Santiago De Leon-Juarez earned a Second Team nod for his heroics this season, and junior Anderson Diaz had two assists and five goals on the year.
