Memorizing all 22 chapters of a book is no small feat, especially when that book is the Bible’s “Revelation”.
Reggie Simmons spent six months committing every verse to memory and will share the full recitation on Saturday, August 23, at the Clarion Church of Christ, 420 North Main, starting at 6 p.m. The program will also feature several musical selections by Simmons family members and is expected to run about 90 minutes. The public is invited to attend.
Simmons, a 2006 Clarion-Goldfield graduate and son of Tom and Anita Simmons, now resides with his family in Fort Dodge. The Simmons family are members of the Oak Hill Church in Humboldt. He is employed by FedEx as a delivery truck driver.
“I have lots of ‘road time,’ which gives me the opportunity to memorize,” he said. “I had never attempted anything like this, but I had a friend who did things like this and challenged me to do it as well.”
The version he selected is the New American Standard Bible. “I had some help beginning my memory work,” he said. “I found speaking words aloud helped me. Then I started recording myself on voice memo. I began listening and speaking with myself.”
A freewill offering will be available, with proceeds going to Wordsower International, a compassion-driven ministry rooted in the belief “that love should be demonstrated through action”. The ministry has established orphanages in Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, India, Haiti, and Nepal.
