Start Thanksgiving with some exercise next Thursday morning, Nov. 27, during the Turkey Trot in Buffalo Center or the Gobble Wobble in Lake Mills.
North Iowa Betterment will host the annual Turkey Trot at 8 a.m. in Buffalo Center, beginning in front of the NIB office on Main Street. The fun run/walk begins at 8 a.m., and there is no registration for the event. All ages are welcome. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable item for the North Iowa Community School food bank as their entry fee. Stop by the Speakeasy at Old Fire Liquor afterward for a warm beverage.
The 7th annual Gobble Wobble 5K Walk/Run in Lake Mills also begins at 8 a.m. on the 27th, starting at 5 Alarm Brewing Co. on Main Street. The event is a fundraiser for Lake Mills Parks & Rec improvements, and the cost is $15 for adults, $10 for youth, and $40 for families. The first 20 finishers will receive commemorative medals. There will also be a 1-mile “Tot Trot” route for kids, families, and anyone looking for a shorter race. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.
